Gap Flagship, Lincoln Road
The challenge in designing the Gap Flagship was to create a retail building that honored the site's rich architectural history, while projecting a bold, contemporary identity. Located on Miami’s iconic Lincoln Road, the building both resonates with the area's legacy and stands out amid a modern retail landscape.
The design for this building evolved out of an interpretation of the original Streamline Moderne structure. Key historic elements—the curved corners, ribbon windows, and horizontal lines—were carefully preserved and reimagined within a new architectural language. The result is a building that bridges past and future, maintaining a respectful dialogue with Miami Beach’s historic context while embracing innovation and modern retail function
Miami’s design language is rooted in our sunny but challenging climate, and somewhat wild nature. It is lighter, brighter, and freer. When desired, it can immerse us in nature while still having protective boundaries from the sun, heat, and storms when needed.
At the heart of our practice is listening: listening to the unique dreams and passions of our clients and weaving their visions into the vibrant tapestry of our dynamic city. The client envisioned a home that was thoroughly modern yet grounded in historical architectural precedents; like many of our projects, 101 Hibiscus was crafted to respect past design traditions while capturing aspirations for the future.
