Grove Central | Interiors

Grove Central is an award-winning, mixed-use, transit-oriented development designed for sustainable urban living whose interiors were designed to connect residents to the lush arboreal neighborhood of Coconut Grove located near the bay. The concept design for the residential tower was to create a series of spaces that emulated the experience of moving up through a tree—from a dense understory to the dappled light of a canopy, to open sky.

The lowest floors of the tower reflect the understory of a forest with its lush foliage and heavily filtered light. The middle section of the tower mimics the canopy level, where light more easily permeates through the tree’s leaves, creating interesting patterns. The upper floors, with their brighter palette, evoke the open sky above the trees from where the bay can finally be seen at a distance. The corresponding interior palette in tones of gray, greens, and blues anchor the design narrative more concretely.

Materials like reclaimed wood, Florida Keystone, and natural ropelike fibers evoke a strong sense of place rooted in Miami’s coastal identity. Shared spaces, including a Sky Lobby, coworking areas, and lounges allow for community building across Grove Central’s residential tower.
