Parasol House | Interiors
Parasol House, named for the concrete parasol providing shade and protection to this modern interpretation of a courtyard house, was designed with interiors meant to complement the clean and modern lines of the house’s architecture. The large floor-to-ceiling windows and doors create sense of permeability, allowing residents to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Tree, Rain, and Water courtyards.
Bringing into the interior space the same Florida Key stone of the exterior creates harmony throughout the property, while the parasol acts as a solar reflector upon which daylight refracts from the roof onto the underside and is then filtered indoors.

Miami’s design language is rooted in our sunny but challenging climate, and somewhat wild nature. It is lighter, brighter, and freer. When desired, it can immerse us in nature while still having protective boundaries from the sun, heat, and storms when needed.

The client envisioned a home that was thoroughly modern yet grounded in historical architectural precedents; like many of our projects, 101 Hibiscus was crafted to respect past design traditions while capturing aspirations for the future.
